At the Phyllis Nicklin exhibition

I set off last Friday morning to the Square adjacent to Snow Hill Station to view an exhibition of photographs by the late Phyllis Nicklin.

The gloomy chill of the morning was not ideal for an outdoor visit but I persisted and am glad I did. First impressions were that the exhibition was small and the photographs well chosen, and providing a fair representation of her work.

The 50 exhibits is a good number given the outdoor location and that many of the visitors will be passers by looking to quickly get an overview of the exhibition between their office and Costa Coffee or the Railway Station.

The photographs cover the 1950s and ‘60s which was a time of significant change in Birmingham. Yes, another time of significant change for Birmingham ...
